    Vehicle Highlights

The 2011 Kia Sportage is redesigned with freshened styling and new powertrains. It shares its platform with the Hyundai Tucson, but has unique styling inside and out and offers a different mix of features. Sportage comes in Base, LX, and EX trim levels, all with a standard 176-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Due later in the model year is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. These replace a 140-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and a 173-horsepower 2.7-liter V6. A 6-speed manual transmission is available only on the Base. Standard on all other models is a 6-speed automatic transmission. All Sportages are available with with front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is optional on LX and EX. The AWD system lacks low-range gearing, but a dashboard switch locks in a 50/50 front/rear power split. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. Available features include a navigation system, rearview camera, rear-obstacle detection, leather upholstery, heated front seats, cooled driver seat, and keyless entry/engine start. Due later in the model year is Kia's UVO infotainment system with voice control for cell phones and digital-music players. This review is based on preview test drive

Pricing Key: Retail prices listed with each report are set by the vehicle's manufacturer. These figures appear on each car's federally mandated window sticker. Most price lists also include dealer-invoice prices. Dealer-invoice prices are what the dealer pays the manufacturer for the car and its factory-installed options. The destination charge is not included in the suggested-retail or dealer-invoice price and must be added to the cost of the vehicle. Car companies change prices frequently throughout the year. If the prices published do not match those on the vehicle's window sticker, the manufacturer has probably altered the price recently.
