After investigating a spate of recent fire incidents involving the 458 Italia, Ferrari has issued an official recall of the sports car.
About 1,248 units sold thus far will be recalled for a modification to the car’s wheelarch and heatshield assembly which have been found to be faulty and the likely cause of the fires.
In certain cases where the car is being driven in hot climate – like in the Middle East – the adhesive itself can catch fire. At the time of writing it was unclear whether any such incidents had occurred in the region.
Update: Ferrari’s Middle East office tells us that 28 cars have been recalled by local dealers in the UAE, and 97 across the Middle East and North Africa. None, however, have actually caught fire.
