Vehicle Highlights
The 2011 BMW X3 is redesigned. Production of this premium-compact SUV shifts to the United States from the previous model's home in Austria. The 2011 X3 is slightly taller, longer, and wider than its predecessor. Two trim levels are offered. Each has BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive, a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine, and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The entry-level xDrive28i has 240 horsepower, and the uplevel xDrive35i is turbocharged and has 300 horsepower. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front- and rear-side airbags. An electronic adaptive suspension is optional and includes driver-selectable firmness settings. 60/40 split-folding rear seat backs are standard with a 40/20/40 split optional. A power tailgate is optional. BMW's iDrive control interface is standard, as are power seats and keyless engine start. A navigation system and keyless access are optional.
